Block Watch is all about neighbors helping neighbors. Participants watch out for each others’ homes and report suspicious activities to the sheriff’s office and each other. This communication is crucial in reducing the likelihood of residential crime. In addition to reporting suspicious activities, we have an opportunity to work together to make Johnson Ranch “the place” to live.
Do we need speed bumps along Johnson Ranch Blvd? Do we need more or less lighting? Are there any damaged areas throughout the community? Is there something being built near our community that could affect us? What about our local school? Your neighbors? Do you know when they are in and when they are out? Would you know what “suspicious activity” is and where to report it?
Being involved in Block Watch is NOT a huge time commitment. It is about learning the who, what, why, when and how of your neighborhood and our community and making Johnson Ranch a safe place to live.
Please stop by one of our monthly meetings and see what the Block Watch is all about. We meet at Walker Butte Elementary School, the 1st Wednesday of every month from 7pm – 8:30pm.
If you can’t commit to an occasional meeting, you can STILL BE INVOLVED. Simply sign up on this site to be added to our email list and be kept updated on crime stats, information, events, tips, etc. that affect our area.
Don’t sit back! Be proactive, and take part in our community! Get involved with Block Watch now, and make Johnson Ranch “the place” to live.
Why a Block Watch?
Each year, 10 million serious crimes (more than half of the nation's total) go unreported. That's why the Block Watch program was initiated.
The Block Watch program is simply you and your neighbors working together with your local deputies to reduce criminal opportunities on your street.
Block Watch operates to educate participants in the principles of deterrence, delay and detection. The program depends on a communication network organized with three levels or participants - the resident, block watch captains and a coordinator and local law enforecement representatives. Are you interested? If so, add your name to our email list to the right or click here ! |
